About Me
Dr. Vance Gee has been practicing pediatrics since 2000. She has always loved working with children and began her journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UCLA. She received her medical degree from the UC Davis School of Medicine—while raising two young children—and completed her pediatric residency at Children's Hospital Oakland. Dr. Vance Gee is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Sharing food and fellowship at the table has long been an integral part of her life as both a mother and a physician. Her interest in the healing power of community and delicious, nourishing food inspired her to complete a fellowship in Culinary Medicine through the American College of Culinary Medicine at the start of the pandemic. She became a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist in 2021.
Dr. Vance Gee is the creator and instructor of the Mercy & Medicine Internship at Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School in Alameda, where students learn to apply culinary medicine skills in service to their unhoused and food-insecure neighbors.
She was awarded an American Academy of Pediatrics CATCH Planning Grant and a grant from Cooking Matters/Share Our Strength, in collaboration with her colleague Dr. Miriam Rhew. Together, they developed a pediatric program that explores mindset, joyful movement, and community through cooking and eating together.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Vance Gee enjoys volunteering, traveling, cooking, CrossFit-ing, hiking, alpine skiing, and reading. She is the proud mother of two adult sons and two adult stepsons.
